Several local and state officials turned out at Rustic Ravines on June 6, 2022 for the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official opening of Trailhead Brewing Co. Grille and Bar. A proclamation from West Virginia U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin’s office was read and those attending included West Virginia U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, House of Representative member Carol Miller, Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bill Bissett, and Tyson Compton from the Huntington Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Rustic Ravines was recently recognized as an Airbnb Superhost for the 24th consecutive time. The award considers Airbnb Superhosts as the top-rated, most experienced hosts on Airbnb.

The online marketplace for home, condo and resort rentals presents the awards every three months. The award considers Airbnb Superhosts as the top-rated, most experienced hosts on Airbnb, committed to “providing customers with outstanding hospitality.”

A new video produced by the Huntington Area Convention and Visitors Bureau promotes Rustic Ravines as one of the area’s top attractions. Thanks to the HACVB for the “shout out.”

This will be Joe Boffo's fourth summer as an owner of Rustic Ravines, a cabin resort in Genoa that tailors to ATV riders.

He said the ATV tourism boom in Wayne County is just getting started.

“This is really adding a boost to our business," Boffo said. "We were already doing well organically, but this just maxed us out."

Rustic Ravines and co-owner Joe Boffo were featured in a story on an expanding recreation corridor in Southern West Virginia recently posted on the Huntington Area Development Council website. The piece highlighted plans for the Appalachian Heartland Highway (AHH) planned along West Virginia Rt. 152. Earlier this year, a federally funded planning initiative was completed to establish and enhance recreational assets along the corridor and drive tourism into Southern West Virginia.

Rustic Ravines made statewide news throughout West Virginia in early June 2020 by earning a $250,000 grant from the state Department of Environmental Protection’s Office of Abandoned Mine Lands. Rustic Ravines’ grant was among $27 million in awards funding trails, campgrounds and other projects on former mine sites throughout the state, according to a story in the Charleston Gazette. The funds were raised through fees on coal sales by active mine operations.
